The World Premier

Well, it's just a little bit after midnight on leap day, 2004. I'm actually quite tired but for some reason I don't feel like sleeping. I was killing time by reading my friends' blogs, and I decided blogging (whatever) is a cool thing to do. So here I am, typing the first entry to what will hopefully become a comprehensive record of my thoughts and whatnot from day to day. (More likely, I'm afraid, is that I will type a few entries in the next couple of weeks, get bored, and find some other way to occupy my short attention span. We'll see, I guess...)

So people just type things that happen to them and things they think about in these things, huh? Okay, well let's start with what I did today. I slept in until about 8:30, which is pretty common, and then got up and found things to do around the house until I finally made myself go the gym. I think 24 Hour Fitness was having their ventilation system serviced, because the b.o. smell that usually hangs around only the treadmills and bikes filled the entire gym. Lovely. So I worked out (and I'm seeing results regardless of what you guys say!) and came home and ate. Mom and I went to Costco (which is the best store ever...kinda) and then we went up to my Grandpa's house in Perris. (No, not Paris. Perris. You know, an hour north from here...full of run-down houses and a surprisingly nice shopping center. And my Granda.) As grandparents' houses tend not to be the most exciting places for teenagers, I brought plenty of homework with me. I'm elated because I completed about forty notecards for my big honkin' English paper. That takes me to ten ahead from twenty behind! Hooray! But man, it was so hard to sit hunched over the kitchen table plagiarizing - oh, excuse me, researching - literary criticism for that long. Anywho, we went to Grandpa's favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner - where I had #23, a taco and a tamale - and then we drove home. And to make a long story short (too late) I'm typing this entry now.

Was that boring? All that crap about what I did today? Well I enjoyed writing it...I'll try to organize these things into paragraphs so people can easily skip parts they don't want to read.

Ooh! Here's some good news I'm sure many of you will be pleased to hear: Cal Poly accepted me! Well, conditonally accepted me. Whatever. I suppose I was kind of expecting it, but until you actually get confirmation you never know what will happen, so it's good to know I'm in. I'm sure those of you who aren't the biggest fans of Purdue will also be glad to hear that I'm leaning more towards Cal Poly now. Purdue's great, but it's hard to rationalize going there when I can be closer to home in warmer weather getting just as good of an education for about 25% the cost. Hopefully Mom and I will be able to go visit the campus again soon...

Okay, one last point of interest before I finish my excrutiatingly long entry. I have a huge crush on this girl. I know she knows it, and her friends know it, and my friends know it. Heck, if you've spoken more than two sentences to me, you probably know it, too. But just for my own personal amusement, let's assign her a codename. Let's see...Ophelia? I am reading Hamlet right now, but let's keep thinking. Phyllis? Ew, no. How about Lucy? I think I like that...Lucy. Okay, Lucy it is. If any of y'all have suggestions, though, tell me...I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot about her so we might as well name her something that won't drive you insane.

So, I guess that's all. For now. That was kind of fun, writing all of this. I wonder how many people will actually read this all...Probably not all that many. But maybe I'll come back and read it in a month or whatever to see what I was thinking. That'll be fun. Okay, so if you are still reading, thanks, I guess. Good night, and happy Leap Day.

Josh
